Bethesda Confirms Job Losses at Elder Scrolls Online DeveloperFrom : SusanExpress Date : 2015/12/22 14:27:54
Bethesda has confirmed that there have been layoffs at Elder Scrolls Online developer, Zenimax Online Studios.
Although the Connacht Tribune originally reported 300 jobs had been lost from its Irish customer service office in Galway, Ireland, Bethesda has now issued a clarifying press statement confirming the staff has been reduced by approximately 50 people and was normal practice.
Following the successful console launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited in June, we have a thriving console and PC online community, said the developer in the statement to Eurogamer.
We adjusted customer support levels in mid-August by reducing staffing by approximately 50 people to reflect the games stability and the needs of our players. This is a normal practice. We have been diligently working with the IDA, and the employees affected by this decision since the summer.
We are disappointed by the inaccuracies in the report of the Connacht Tribune.
Bethesda recently announced a contest for The Elder Scrolls Online that will award one player $1 million, and giveaway 3,000,000 in-game currency Crowns to 1,000 second-prize winners. The winner will be announced on February 1, 2016.
